  • A deciduous species native to eastern Asia, including China, India, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. Resistant to the Dutch elm disease and has become a substitution for the magnificent American elm.
  • Known for its small, notched leaves and the mottled, aged look that its bark is able to develop over time.
  • Adapts to a variety of different soils and tolerates both wet and dry sites. Generally tolerant of urban conditions. Thrives in various climates, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced hobbyists.
  • Unlike ordinary Chinese elms, which turn yellow in the fall, most of our trees will have red fall foliage under the right growing conditions.
  • Comes in a traditional clay pot from YiXing, featuring a patent-pending water-retaining design for easy care.
  • Comes with a FREE pair of carbon steel bonsai clippers.
  • Want to save 1-2 years' worth of time? Check out our more mature and robust Chinese Elms that come in a larger 12" pot.

  • SCIENTIFIC NAME: Ulmus Parvifolia
  • STYLE: Formal upright, with each tree being distinctively natural.
  • SIZE: The bonsai is approx. 12" wide x 16" tall, and it is planted in a pot that is 10" wide x 7.75" deep x 2.75" tall.
  • MATERIAL: The pot is ceramic (YiXing Purple Clay) made with our patent-pending design meant to help keep your roots moist while avoiding root rot. The clipping shears are carbon steel.
